Message from the President

Promoting Voluntarism… Developing the Potential of Women… Improving Communities…
WE volunteer, WE develop, and WE Improve!
As your President, I have had the pleasure of spending time and meeting with our LEADERship Team learning all about the great women that our organization is so lucky to have! I am happy to say that everyone is excited to be a part of The Junior League of Stark County, Ohio’s 75th anniversary celebration and what our mission statement represents. Currently, JLSC is celebrating 75 years of training and developing the potential of so many great women; we have empowered women to become civic and community leaders but most importantly, we have improved communities and lives of all ages, young and old.
For those of you that have worked closely with me over the last year, you know that I am all about engaging and exciting our membership! I believe 2011-2012 to be a year of just that! I have learned that it takes a complete village to accomplish the tasks and goals that we have set for ourselves this year, and the years to follow. Fortunately, we have a strong group of Active and Sustainer members to get the job(s) done. At the Board Orientation held in May, our new Executive Board created an Annual Plan and felt strongly about engaging Sustainers to help celebrate the 75 years that we have been going strong.
So if you are wondering, “what have we been up to”? Some examples would be that our 75th Diamond Committee has been hard at work since early spring brainstorming ideas on ways to celebrate the past 75 years of our organization and its community service; our Admissions / Provisional committee is under way with recruitment and planning for a successful year to bring in new, strong members; and our Fund Development committee is off to a GREAT start with planning our Major Fundraiser which will spotlight our 75th Anniversary…..it’s going to a FABULOUS celebration!! I think everyone would agree that we are well into some serious planning that you all will enjoy!
With the help off ALL of our members, whether you are an upcoming Provisional, an “active” Active member, or you are a “much appreciated” Sustainer, I hope that we all can work collectively as The Junior League of Stark County, Ohio, Inc. to be VERY visible in our community this year.
To all of our Sustainer members, if you have not been able to engage yourself in some of the planning that we have begun, please don’t hesitate to contact headquarters to see how you can be a part of the GRAND celebration of JLSC’s 75th Anniversary!
“Cheers” to a successful 2011-2012 year!
Blessings ~
Wendy Menegay President, 2011-2012
